Hartzell Service Letter HC-SL-61-61 Overhaul times for propellers and governors
AD 2006-18-15 compliance -
applies to all Lycoming 360 series
engines (except agricultural and aerobatic – see AD 2001-23-08)
Propeller assemblies with Serial Numbers that
do not have a suffix at the end (‘A’ or ‘B’)
Initially, an eddy current inspection must be
done within 50 hours of the effective date of the AD (September 25, 2006)
then re-occurring each 100 hours there after.
To eliminate this re-occurring inspection the prop should be overhauled
with
a new ‘B’ suffix hub installed. New
hubs are offered by Hartzell at a discounted price if the propeller is
maintained in accordance
with Service Letter 61 ‘Overhaul Periods and Service Life Limits for Hartzell
Propellers’
Propellers that have not been overhauled
within the last 6 years
If the re-occurring eddy current inspection is
the option that you choose, the propeller should be overhauled with AD
compliance
then have the eddy current inspection completed each 100 hours there after.
If you would like to eliminate the AD you must
overhaul the propeller with a new ‘B’ suffix hub installed. You have until
September 30, 2007 to comply and receive the discounted price for the new
hub. After September
30, 2007 you will be
paying list price for a new ‘B’ style hub
Propellers that have been overhauled within
the last 6 years
These propellers must comply with the
re-occurring eddy current inspection until the hub is replaced. You will be able to get the
discounted hub at any time, even as late as when the prop is due overhaul. Proper documentation will be required for
this.
New original equipment (2 blade Hartzell) is
also available at a discounted price
To receive a new propeller at a discounted price
you must return your old prop to Hartzell.
If you are past due on overhaul
after September 30, 2007 you will be
paying list price for a new prop with a ‘B’ style hub.
